Default fat & insulin resistance?

I'm a T2 and haven't noticed this. If anything, my BG looks better when I have sufficient fat in a meal. I've learned to add a spoonful of coconut oil or another fat if a meal is low in fat.

Is what Adam wrote applicable only to T1s? Or is it something that applies to some people but not others? Or is this more apt to happen with more carbs in a diet? Or ?

I know about Physiological insulin resistance - that happens when the meal is vlc and the body needs to reserve BG for those organs/cells that really, really need it. I look at PIR as a normal survival mechanism, something that happens to everyone diabetic or not.

I wish it was easy & inexpensive to test insulin levels in the blood. That would answer so many questions.
