Default Zucchini or zucchini??

Must be missing something here. Just looked up the carb count of zucchini - per 20g
Squash, zucchini, winter, raw - 2.9 carbs
Squash, zucchini, summer, raw - 0.6
Whats the difference??? (apart from the season!!)
Pam

hi Pam,

I have never heard of winter zucchini I've always known zucchini (courgette) to be a summer squash, either green or yellow skinned variety.

The difference between summer and winter squash, as I've been taught, is that summer squash can be eaten skin, seeds and all, and can also be eaten raw. Winter squash have a thick, inedible rind, they must be cooked, and the seeds have a tough outer shell and are removed.

I would use the lower carb count for your zucchini

This is a great site for Australians to get the carb content of all foods native to Australia - also great for those Branded products we eat.

I agree it is good to look up food but it is still a "non LC" site which can really confuse people (see thread about Weight Watchers".
SO if you are going to use it then DON"T read any of the other info just look up the food you are interested in and enjoy

Default Borushek

I met Alan Borushek (the guy with the traditional low fat dieting site)many years ago for professional reasons (not as his client)...his office was in his home and he had begun publishing his now famous calorie counter booklet. To my amusement, his adolescent son popped in to ask something....and he was obese. I wondered at the time if this kid was overeating as some form of teenage rebellion re his dad.
