Ate some carby foods today. I went to my SILs house and she made chicken spaghetti and bread rolls. that's it. There wasn't even much chicken in it. In hindsight I should have offered to bring a salad. Then of course I had to eat the cobbler she served afterward. I didn't eat a ton of it. Ketosis helps you say no, or that's enough. I felt in control. Now I'm afraid of tomorrow and the cravings that will come. I CAN'T fall off the wagon now. School starts on Thursday for teachers and there is always temptations. me!

Caco my foot is better! Definitely not pain free but better. But I've been here before from wearing the boot all day. I did stretch it a little bit this morning. More stretching tomorrow. Thanks for asking.
I hope you have a better time with the boss next week.

Hi Heidi!

Okay I don’t think yesterday’s number was real. Maybe fluid retention from the plane, lack of sleep, no idea, but happy for the whoosh!

I have to do a coaches clinic for two hours this morning then help with the kid clinic for 3 hours. Tomorrow I’m taking my daughter to “slime mania”....grandma bought the tickets, um...yay? Hours and hours of slime this and slime that...what joy, NOT!

Rats! Too many low-carb treats and such yesterday. I can't buy those sugar-free chocolate pudding cups and expect to eat just one. Nope - those should not be allowed in my home. I also made green chili chicken enchilada casserole last night using those egg thins I got at Costco instead of tortillas. I haven't put all of the ingredients into my recipe calculator yet, so I'm not sure how many carbs each serving has, but I still had 2 servings.

Caco - Your job sounds intense and stressful, especially if your boss isn't giving you lots of positive reinforcement. Hope it's not causing difficulties getting back on plan.

Sosumi - Hope all is well and we hear from you soon.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Hi Ang - I didn't see your post before I posted. Glad to hear your foot is doing better. It seems like if you wear the boot as much as possible for as long as possible it might help with the healing??

Good luck today with the cravings from eating carbs last night. You can do it. You have to do it. Keep up the good work!!!

Kit – how interesting about the Apple Mac sound. I had no idea. Oh, how are those egg thins from Costco? I’ve heard about them but our Costco hasn’t had them yet.

CaCO – your trip sounds exhausting! Hopefully this weekend you can get a bit of rest. Not sure that is possible with all you do! I hope lots of parents help with softball. Oh my! Have fun at the slime mania! I can’t even imagine!

Ang – I’m glad you enjoyed your presentations; I, too, love giving presentations. A few months ago they tapped me to give one to 200 people, my largest yet! I'm glad the foot is improving. Those boots are a PITA to deal with.

Heidi – Hey! It is wonderful to see you here! Yes, you are most welcome! How are you?

Well, having some issues with the car. The dealership told me it is a known problem, but said they aren’t sure what to do about it. They gave me the manufacturer’s customer care number. I’ve been checking the forums online to see what others have done. It is out of the basic warrantee due to time but the mileage is below 10,000.

Month end is still going, but not so bad for next week. I was so exhausted last night, I slept in today. We are supposed to go to our property tonight and stay super late to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Not sure if I will be able to stay awake for it!

I’m not sure I believe this number, but I will take it. My hormones have been all over the place lately and yesterday I was very bloated.

Don't like that number. I'm going to make some egg salad today.

I was thinking about how my goal is to make this a lifestyle change. That means in times of holiday or party I just get back on the wagon. I don't think it kicked me out of ketosis since I'm not feeling cravings but I also haven't eaten yet. I just don't like breakfast much but I'm also fearful of starting to eat today. The egg salad will be good and perhaps I will go pick up some brisket. I can munch on brisket all day...yummy.

Happy Saturday everyone! I start back to work on Thursday!

Okay, yesterday was brutal! I’m too old to be in 94 degree heat for three hours. We had kids going to the shade feeling dizzy, I for sure over did it. I still have a headache from dehydration, although I drank 4 powerades and four waters...I was dripping with sweat and asleep by 6:30pm, slept until 6am, and just don’t even want to think about slime mania, ugh! More standing, more walking, ugh!

Good luck all!

Ang – how was your egg salad and brisket?

CaCO – oh wow, that sounds downright dangerous!

Kit – how is your weekend going?

Heidi – Don’t be shy! How are you doing?

Wow – I thought I was exhausted yesterday! We did go to our property to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Got there around 8:30 pm and got home at 2:30 am! I admit, while laying there, all bundled up, I did close my eyes here and there. Never did doze. It got cold there. We are always prepared for it and bring our big heavy winter coats and winter bibs. As we were packing the car, there was frost on the ground and we could see our breath!

All in all, it was a successful viewing! The best we've seen in the last 6 years. Not spectacular, but we saw quite a few, and one really bright and long one. The moon was bright and interfered; washing out the lower magnitude meteors. This meteor shower is my favorite, because it happens during the summer, even though it still gets cold laying there.

I did well yesterday until AFTER dinner. I was home alone and feeling lonely and succumbed to my cravings. I’m feeling sad again this morning and it could very well be from the carbs I ate last night. When I’m really working on reducing carbs I become very sensitive to them and seem to get mood swings when eat too many. Unfortunately that also leads to more poor eating decisions.

Sosumi - that sounds like a fun evening. We have a cool observatory nearby and I was thinking of going there this evening to see what we can of the meteor shower. We went last year and really enjoyed it. I saw about 3 or 4 while there.

Caco, Slime mania was outside??? UGH! We are having record heat here...99+, feels like 110ish! DH was outside building a deck for his son too! You just can't cool down no matter how much you drink in heat like this.
Sosumi that sounds fabulous! I'm such a Science nerd I would have loved it (especially the cold temps!...meanwhile here at home its 90 degrees at 10pm)
Kit, sometimes a little at a time works best. Glad you are here!

I'm proud of myself for hopping back on the wagon after that carby meal THAT is rough for me usually. This time 'round I intend for this to be a lifestyle change. That means when I eat something carby I go back to eating the healthy, knowing that I can someday have a carby something or other some other time. It make is easier knowing its not completely forbidden although I choose to not eat it more than 1 or 2 times a year. This can be (and has been) a slippery slope. So looking at it differently this time 'round.

Goes on fast...comes off slow.
Many trips to the bathroom today so I know the likely reason for such a big gain is the inflammation that comes from carbs (for me anyway).

Still in my boot! It seems different and possibly better. I can't tell yet. I NEED to be healing. I hope to join our YMCA in September to do classes for yoga and strength/strength training for "older" people.

Back on plan today but kicking and screaming inside. Oh well. I drew a limit at 195, want to stay well under 200. Should have drawn the limit at 180. *rolls eyes at self* Knees hurting some when I go up stairs and it’s just harder to do. Feeling the added weight. How quickly we forget WHY we wanted to lose the wt in the first place! :stars:

I miss the like button, is there one and I’m just missing it? Also the print is so small, and it’s just not as easy to read for me here on my phone. I understand why You all decided to come here but change is hard for this ole gal!

Ang - Great job getting back on plan after that carby meal. I’m trying to do the same. Sounds like you’ve got a great attitude developing. That’s the way we need to think for this to be a way of life.

Heidi -Glad you’re back on plan too. Still so much better than last year right? It’s all about progress. I miss the like button too. I don’t think there is such a thing here. I agree it is harder to read on this site and not as pleasing design-wise but you get used to it after a while. I’m really glad you all are here to help support this little group too.

I’ve been thinking a lot about moving more. My stay-at-home desk job is really turning me into a no energy blob. My goal for the next few weeks is to walk before starting work, vacuum/sweep/mop every day during my lunch break and then to do some yoga/stretch and push up type exercises for 30 minutes right after work. Sounds like a lot but I won’t do anything too strenuous. Just have to get the blood flowing for starters.

Caco - hope you’re surviving the weekend OK.

6 hours of softball on Saturday in 94 degree heat.
5 hours of slime mania on Sunday, thankfully inside but still standing the whole time.

I don’t know what my weight is anymore, dehydration, standing, sleeping 12 hours then sleeping 5 hours...it’s been a crazy weekend. Maybe I’ll be more stable by Friday with my weight, can’t work out this morning, still feeling icky and dehydrated and I have to go about an hour away for a meeting with my son for more of his shenanigans.

I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!

Good luck y’all!

We didn’t make it to the observatory last night but I’m hoping to go tonight. They will have docents on a Monday because of the Perseid Meteor Shower. I did dream about it though and saw hundreds of beautiful shooting stars.
