Default Hi Everyone

Just started Atkins and have never stuck to a diet before so 5 days and going strong Today being Friday is a little hard to manage as NO ALCOHOL in induction phase, not even a small glass of wine?? Anyway when I look at the pics in the gallery they are inspiring. Just want to ask if anyone knows the Low Carb shake they talk about in Atkins - if you want to make your own what ingredients go into it? In SA so we don't get the Atkins products.

Hi there,
Welcome. Low carb is a great way to live!!!
I understand that induction should be "clean", although I didn't really do it myself.
If you find yourself really tempted, drink the wine and stick to the way of eating, that would be my advice. Whatever you do, don't give up.
I don't find it hard to give up carbs but I do like to have a glass of wine. I'm losing well, so it's not a problem. Once I'm thin, maybe I'll give up the booze and the shopping, but I'm taking it one thing at a time!

Welcome! Getting started on any new habits can always be hard, just stick with it and arm yourself with knowledge. Find a book or two on low-carb that you think may interest you, and these forums are a great resource for encouragement and information.

Thanks so much for the welcome - "survived" Friday - stayed home when everyone went to the pub. I agree with reading the low carb books as I feel as though I may read myself thin - but it does motivate and inspire me. Think I will try stick to induction for 2 weeks totally "clean" and then depending on weight loss may have a glass of wine on weekends.
