Thumbs up hola

Im very new to this, i started july 14th 2004, the last time i weighed i had lost a total of 14 pounds, im very excited and have not had any problems so far sticking to it. I do miss pizza! But I feel fine. I would love it if my friend would join me but she has decided to try a low calorie diet again. If i am sucessful maybe she will join me. The only issue i have is that i cant possibly drink as much water as ive been told i should drink.

Hello and welcome to the forum

I think you'll find this site very helpful and informative. And the support you'll get here can't be beat!!!

Best of luck to you One trick I've done for myself with the water is I have a 32 oz glass from the hospital, the kind with the straw. I use that instead of smaller glasses because thinking I only have 2-3 glasses to drink is easier than 8-8 oz glasses or more. It's just a mind game, but it works for me. Just a though. I know some people fill a gallon every day and and drink that until it's gone. I drink a gallon many days, but it doesn't seem like it because of the bigger glasses. And when I'm at the computer, I set the glass right in front of me and sip on it constantly and before I know it, it's gone.

Just my .02

Is keeping a journal helpful? I may go ahead and start one, and are they public?

Yes, keeping a journal has proved very efficient for some people. It lets you track what you eat, write down your thoughts and even vent out some stress. And about the water, I have made myself get used to drinking as much water as I can. I know for some people it's hard, in my case I don't mind the water but, you can try as Cara73 suggested, to put the bottle in front of you while you're at a computer and before you know it from sip to sip it will be gone in no time. While your mind is busy doing something else you will drink the water by impulse, just like we all do with popcorn at the movies or the peanuts when you're at a bar, you just do it cause it's a repeated movement not cause you really mean to.

Good Luck on atkins !

Ok, ive started my peroid, early! two weeks early, could this be due to the diet? I cant think of why this would happen. Have any other women out there had this same thing happen? This is really weird.

i was worried about becomming one, which is one reason i chose this diet. it is something i hope to aviod. it runs in my family and i had it while i was pregnant. they told me many women get it within five years after giving birth. Thankfully that has not been the case for me.

hello everyone, i am new to chats rooms or anything like communicating via the web. i still do not know how to log in. my email just tells me that some wrote and i hit the brower and here i am. would like to know more about low carbs and diabetics. trying to lose fifty pounds. when i was younger, it was for looks. today, it's for my health. if i feel good, then i know i look good. since i am not a spring chicken, my view point has changed. i gained the weight with the many surgeries i had. the diabectics came with the illness and surgeries.--so i heard and read.

This is a very common complaint. But it is very informative. Low carb dieting causes the stabilization of insulin levels which effects other hormones, including estrogen. This will result in early onset of menstruation ( TOM: Time of month ) in some people. It can result in longer periods. It also is helpful in regulating periods in women with PCOS who tend to be highly insulin reistant. This usually balances itself out and things become normal again but it never hurts to talk with Dr. about this.
