Red face The Strangest Things Can "Set You Off"...

So I was in the grocery store, collecting a pork butt, some chicken thighs, and some kale. All good, right?

And then I walked past....
circus peanuts.

Yup... those gross-colored, orange, peanut-shaped marshmallow thingies. And all of a sudden I WANTED CIRCUS PEANUTS!

Really, they're just... eww. I didn't REALLY want them. I didn't. But boy, did my inner four-year-old start tantrumming and whining.

I walked on by, but I absolutely see how I could have caved. If I would've had the Grands with me, and THEY clamored for them, I'd probably have bought them... and then "tried" them, for "old times' sake". Sheesh...

I'm with ya on the circus peanuts. My feed store sells them and like you said, I don't even really like them, or didn't when I ate things like that. But walking past them to buy feed each week, I WANT them. None of the other candy they have there, just those orange sugar bombs. It is funny what sets us off, isn't it?

LOL on the circus peanuts. The first time I ever had them was from a tiny general store near Algonquin Park; we only ever had them on our annual family vacations. It is not the colour, shape or taste that I found so attractive, it is the texture. Starting at age ~4 I always aligned a peanut so that all molars on one side would chomp down on it simultaneously - pure bliss. One or two would satisfy the textural craving, but are those things ever sold in bags of less than 50?

Default Coca Puffs

Oh My Gosh! Coco Puffs are my downfall too! 9-10PM at night, I have been know to eat a whole box with a half Gallon of whole milk. I'm a night binger and I have had to really work hard on changing my nights.

Tesco have a store brand coco pops which looks like your cocoa puffs, I don't know if you have them where you are they are basically puffed rice, and both my wife and I were addicted to them before I went low card. I'm guessing the sugar content was much higher than regular coco pops. I would eat them any time of the day. I was never like that with any other cereal.

I just read in Prevention that during the hollidays, pick out 2 things you love the most and plan on having them a couple of times over the whole season. They said it makes it easier to say no to all the other junk. This made sense to me right away! I'm going to find low carb recipes for two of my favorites and splurge on them on the tough days.

A BIG PLATE OF CHEESY NACHOS. With real, salty, crunchy tortilla chips - no fake, pretend ones. The bad ones. And jalapenos, banana peppers, olives, green onion, tomato. And enough cheese to stop your heart

I did make myself some on a small plate of pork rinds (with a lot less cheese) for superbowl. They were good. But not as good as the real thing

That was my biggest addiction (and I had a LOT of food addictions). Just reading your post almost got the gastric juices flowing again for hot buttered toast and a nice cup of tea. Of course, back before lc, one or two slices of toast were followed by one or two more until the loaf was gone. And another loaf after that if there was one in the house. Thank God those days have gone.

Default Yes to the hot buttered toast

I have a roommate so she wants bread in the house, but fortunately she's kind enough to hide it in the freezer.

One of my goals when I switched eating habits was to enjoy all the food I eat and if I do have something not so healthy, to fully enjoy it and savor eat bite. I still can't do that with bread. It triggers way too many sense memories. I really do miss it.

Thank goodness dark chocolate (in moderation) is possible!
