My question is: Does oral thrush increase while Candida is dying off in the stomach?

Hi biophile,
Sounds to me like you might have gluten intolerance, too. Candida - according to something I read once on my internet travels - can trigger celiac disease in those who already have the appropriate genes (which is most of us, if you are of European heritage).
For the oral thrush I have a suggestion that might help: gargle with virgin coconut oil - it's called "oil pulling" - but make sure you don't swallow it. It might also be an idea to get some kind of probiotic capsules, too, which you would then empty and swill around in your mouth after doing the oil pulling.
The oil pulling would kill off bacteria and the probiotics would provide your mouth with some "good" bacteria afterwards. If you have oral thrush, you must have systemic candida and then you need to really work hard to treat it.
I also really think you should look into coconut oil. I have used it to treat both candida inside (I used to get an itchy rectum, 'scuse me for the TMI) and outside: I have had various fungal skin/nail complaints on and off for years which, in the last three years, I have successfully treated with coconut oil, both externally and internally.
I can't recommend a specific brand that you can buy in the USA as I live in Europe, but I can recommend that you look here:
Another question: are you vegetarian by any chance? If you are low in B12, this can make you susceptible to infections. Normally, a healthy body can deal with fungal problems, but if there is some imbalance, then it has problems.
Second question: how do you react to grains, wheat in particular? Also, barley and rye? I wonder if you have an undiagnosed gluten intolerance. Bloating and diarrhoea are classic symptoms of a gluten problem.
As for your initial question about oral thrush being a side-effect of candida being killed off in the gut: as a layperson I can only hazard a guess at an answer, but it sounds unlikely. If anything, one would expect a symptom like rectal itching to be a possible result as the candida gets "flushed out", so to speak, but it seems highly unlikely for the candida to travel
upwards from the gut as the links between the various chambers should be sealed off to things coming upwards from the gut. However, I suppose it would be possible if you have acid reflux or something like that? But in a normal healthy body, things should only move downwards, not upwards, along the digestive tract.
Pop in again soon and let us know how you're doing!
All the best,
amanda
