Default Are these the kinds of ads we want here?

I've noticed that products such as carb blockers are frequently advertised on the site. Is that really what we want here?

If there is no way to filter these, then perhaps a disclaimer located near the ads that says something like, "The advertisement of products help support this site but they are neither controlled nor endorsed by this site's staff. As such, it is possible that products will occasionally be advertised that are not in keeping with the philosophies and recommendations generally found here."

Yep, go here and put your hand in your pocket

I'm guessing (since I don't have ads anymore due to paid subs) that you're talking about the Google text adverts? If so, I believe they work on a keyword basis, so not a lot can be done about them.

As Doogie mentioned, these Google text ads are based on keywords.

Disclaimers cannot be added automatically to specific ads, as this will require programming from the Google side. The current disclaimer is "Ads by Google".

However, I think any member here on our forum is very familiar with carb-blockers, and how useless they are.

There is a limited sort of filtering we can do, and that's through the specific ad URL, and we occasionally block some URL's when they are reported. But I will need to know the URL, since we don't see the same ads, since in addition to keywords, they are also "geo" targeted.
