Default Appt for thyroid

I have an appointment next week to have my thyroid checked with a new doc. Even though I have all the symptoms, because my number fell into their 'normal' range, the last doc wouldn't treat me. I think she thought I just wanted to lose weight!! I wish i would have never brought up inability to lose weight, and just said other symptoms - like aches & carpel tunnel, cold, losing hair, tired all the time. I'm so nervous to go to another doc who just thinks I'm just lazy

Is it better to not bring up inablility to lose, or gain easily - and let them bring it up? Any suggestions for a good doc visit, like what to ask or say/not say?

Yeah, I'd say don't bring that symptom up. Doctors think we're just trying to find a shortcut to losing weight. They never believe their patients are actually able to stick to diets. Well, rarely do they believe their patient.

Also, get a copy of your test results. Just because you're in range doesn't mean you're optimal for you. When your doctor says "in range" tell him, "Look, I know I'm in range but perhaps this isn't an optimal dose for me. Lets increase it a notch and retest in 6 weeks, if I go hyperthyroid then we can back it off again, but I'd really like to try to find a more optimal dose."

Focus on Fatigue as a major symptom, then things like hair loss, dry skin etc

Nancy's right the "I want to lose weight" just gets you dismissed or offered diet pills.
