Default Just wanted to report...

With my Hashi's, I feel much better on the T-3 only medication (cytomel.) My rashes/hives turned out to be atopic dermatitis and Singulair and Zantac seems to have that under control.

Funny how the endo says they are not related. I kept saying maybe not, but they are both autoimmune and the hives didn't appear until the Hashi's was diagnosed. Thankfully, I am finally feeling like my old self again!

apparently the Yahoo thyroid California group has some good leads on doctors that perscribe both.

~ aeroangie, congrats on feeling better! I'd like to try a T3 only protocol but having trouble finding a place where I can get tested for RT3 (I'm in Canada)

Is that the RT3 group? I'm a member but haven't really been keeping up.

no, apparently if you go to groups and enter "California thyroid support" it comes up and is quite active. The yahoo group is mentioned quite frequently on the "other" low carb forum (thyroid sub forum) as a place to find doctors that "get it".

On the RT3 group, you can order Cynomel from Mexico legally because it is a supplement there. They have links up. I still may have the RT3 problem, but at this point, I don't give a rat's behind because I am feeling well and I have lost almost all the weight I have been trying to lose for two years! Also, there are links there that show you how to get your own blood work done to diagnose an RT3 problem. My endo didn't agree that a problem existed despite the ration of T-3 to RT3 but put me on the T-3 for a trial basis. I love it that I was right!

It's kind of a pain having to remember to take it several times a day but it's been worth it. I haven't raised the level over 20 mgs daily as per any of the protocols to reverse the T-3 but if you are feeling well, have energy and are losing weight, I just don't think that I need to stress myself worrying about it since my endo firmly believes it may not be a problem and in time, will correct itself in many cases.

hi aeroangie,
thanks for that, I am a member of that group but haven't gone there in a while. I was trying to find a lab here that actually tested RT3, the main lab did but stopped about 1 year ago

I read earlier that another canadian did the wilsons protocol based on symptoms and had success, think I will try it too as I keep going up instead of down, even at vlc (less than 10 net carbs).

congrats on your loss
