Default Chromium

Hey all,

Not sure if this has come up before, so I hope I'm not repeating stuff!

I have been doing a lot of reading, and have found some information that says taking chromium is good for insulin resistance. Has anyone else found this? Do you use it? And does it work?

Thanks!

I recently started to see a fertility specialist, and through this process realized I'm insulin resistant. He's precribed Metformin, but also suggested that I take Chromium and Cinnamon supplements, only with a multivitamin and extra B12. I have found that the chromium really helps to curb my cravings. If I forget to take it, I notice a difference in how I feel. I haven't had any blood tests yet to see if my insulin levels are reduced (I go in another 2 weeks). But, I can definately feel a difference already. Hope that helps a little!

GTF Chromium is the best kind for insulin resistance.

Vitamin D is excellent for fertility. Some women using bc have found themselves pregnant when both partners were on 50,000 IUs/week of vitamin D3.

I have been taking 10,000 IU of Vit D3 daily for about 7 days now - just have to convince my hubby to try it as well. I've read some info that says you have to be on a high dose of Vit D3 for a long time to get your levels up to normal and then a slightly lower dose to maintain that level. Plus, you need to take more in winter and less in summer. Anyway, I'm also taking Chromium - not sure what the GTF stands for, but I find if I take it in the morning my cravings aren't quite as bad.

I'm also trying to follow a Low GI diet to see if that will help with the insulin resistance. My fertility Dr. told me that if I don't take Metformin (or something like it) to help with the insulin levels I could develop gestational diabetes if I get pregnant. So, I'm hoping my insulin levels will go down - but I have to convince him to test it again first.

Good luck!
Stacy
