I'm just back in the UK and I've started trawling the supermarkets.

My best find so far is Safeway cranberry juice with no added sugar. Only 0.4g per 100! Best suasages I've found have been Waitrose - but there's no Waitrose up here - pity.

Tesco do some rather good smoked bacon strips at £1.79 a packet. Even better value if you can get them when they're marked down on the "best buy" date to around half price

Morrisons have Mattessons Original Smoked Pork Sausage with 40p off at the moment. Only 0.5g per 100. I've stocked up!

Good stuff isn't it Robert? I baked some the other day with a 'bechamel' sauce topping.

Will post recipe.

I have just spent 20 mins writing my Sainsburys shopping this from this thread !!! Its fab !!

Also at Sainsburys from their "Taste the difference" range-
6 Ultimate pork sausages:
5.2g of carb per 100g
Pack is 400g for 6 sausages....so 3.5g per sausage !!
They are yummy, pricey at £2.29 per pack but lovely for breakfast with bacon and eggs !!

6 Pork and leek sausages:
Only 2.2g of carbs per 100g
....so 1.5g per sausage (6 in a pack as above)
these are really yummy

Rowntrees sugar free jelly crystals has a trace of carbs per pack, watch out though as some flavours have more carbs, blackcurrent is my fave at a trace of carbs.

Wow, lots of places, but there is one place that could really do with a mention...Your Local open air Market, usually there you will find a meat auction lorry. We have one in Shrewsbury that is really fantastic.
For £5 you can get 13 chicken legs, 12 Pork Chops etc
All the meat is of an excellent quality and if you arrive later in the day you get the better deals.

I am sure any open air market across the country will have this type of stall!

Plus you get to directly support local farmers and guarantee they get a fair price too, instead of the brutally low wage a supermarket would pay them.

Oh and nimble wholemeal loaf - 7 carbs per slice....available in most supermarkets, i bought mine from sainsburys. I like to toast it and then cut off the crusts and cut through it (melba toast style) so i have 2 very thin pieces. drizzle the untoasted sides with olive oil, sprinkle on some maldon salt and toast! et voila'....a great really really low carb base for pates (like the above mentioned!) and dips!

I bought Chipolata sausages from Aldi. £1.49 for 8. Same length as a normal sausage, but not as thick.

Only 1.9 gms carbs per 100gms

Each sausage weighs about 25 gms, so half pack is about 2gms carb.

Kenny

Don't know whether you all know but the weight watchers bread, the brown variety only, has 4.5 carbs per slice. This was a dream come true knowing i could spread lurpack on it as thick as I liked, in fact the thicker the better!!!!!!!!
