If you have to ask if something's allowed, chances are excellent it's not. Popcorn has no nutritional value other than as a vehicle for butter and salt.

Depends on your goals. It is 5 grams of carbs per cup. A cup of popcorn is a pretty small serving so it may not be worth it.

The decision is ultimately yours.

Popcorn is popped corn. Corn is a grain. Grains aren't allowed during the induction period of Atkins and you can only add certain types back in after you have moved steadily up the carb-ladder of Ongoing Weight Loss/Pre-Maintenace/Maintenance.

You really should go and read the book DANDR - the whole book and learn not only about consuming consume low levels of carbohydrate, but the whole nutritional approach to this way of eating/way of life. It is a comprehensive approach to health, that does involve a lot of readjustment to previously held notions of health and previously followed eating regimes. You need to familiarise yourself with the whole program and then follow it as it is laid down, in order to be actually 'Following Atkins'
