Thanks for asking, Daryl...doing okay, all things considered. I'm almost halfway through a 28-day regimen of monday-friday radiation plus oral chemo, and then new pictures and the docs will all regroup and play rock-paper-scissors to decide what to recommend. Meanwhile, the treatment is kicking me pretty hard, but I can still type...and I've only got 15 more days to go!

Best of luck Gaelen!

Peach: the quality of Mercola's information is hit and miss. Be careful with him. He tried to sell me, a dude with hypertension, some of his Himalayan rock salt.

Ok, fair enough - I don't think Mercola is 100% on the mark either (who is). However, there are other sources that give the potential dangers of soy. Westonaprice.org is another good website to check out - click on "Soy Alert!" and there is a wealth of information on the subject.

As I said before, I have done my own research; avoiding processed soy products is a choice I came to believe would be best for me. Everyone should do their own research to make their own informed decisions about what they are putting into their bodies.

Also, I do believe that replacing regular, iodized table salt with natural sea or Himalayan salt is a big step toward bettering our health, but once again, that's a subject that I have done my own research on and feel have made my own informed decision on.

Here is another source for soy information...
"There is an increasing trend of putting soya in everything from bread and breakfast cereals to ice-cream and, of course, low-carb 'diet' products. High in protein, and very abundant and cheap, it looks like a good food to include in other foods. But, while fermented soya is okay, unfermented soya is not. And it is the unfermented soya that is used in these products today. Put bluntly, soya protein powders, soya flour, soya oil and soya milk, and foods containing them, should carry a health warning as cigarettes do. Here's why:..."

Thank you, Wifezilla for giving us another source of soy information! The more informed people are of soy, the better.

Is soy better than rice? I think of white rice as being worst than soy, like in rice milk vs. soy. Is that true?

They both suck, but for different reasons. Soy is more damaging to your thyroid...rice is just loaded with carbs.

Tons of Asians eat soy in Japan and Okanawa. They have no problems with their thyroids.

They eat primarily fermented soy. Non-fermented soy in everything is very new. The fermenting process eliminates a lot of the harmful effects. Tofu? No problem. Soy sauce? No problem. Soy flour, soy snacks, soy oil???? We'll find out soon enough.

Asians eat plenty of non fermented soy in the form of tofu. They just happen to also eat tempeh, miso and soy sauce.
These docs who are against soy like Mercola, don't realize it's soy mixed with the Standard American Diet (SAD) that is the problem. More like the SAD that's the problem.
