Default Weight loss even better than medicine?

Here's an article I picked up from the regular blog Weighty Matters. Whatever it takes to lose that weight and keep it off seems to be important. Right?

Good article putting things in perspective. Of course, it's easier to simply take prescription drugs and not make the lifestyle change sacrifice to lose weight, but losing the weight is also far more beneficial in the long term. Sustainability? I believe if an individual experiences positive results, it serves well as an incentive to continue with the healthy lifestyle changes. I view the weight loss as an accompanying result combined with many other healthy benefits that occur from lifestyle adjustment as well.

I believe that almost all physicians are ignorant of how few of their patients will benefit from the drugs that they are prescribing.

The almighty dollar is clouding their judgement. They're not
going to snub their nose at $80,000 from the drug companies annually.

They are trained to match the symptom to the symptom-relieving drug.

Only this, and nothing more.

This was starkly illuminated for me when I went to the doctor with hellish menopausal symptoms. They wanted to give me Ambien for sleep, Lipitor because I'm alive at my age and Prozac so I won't be depressed about them ignoring the cause of my problems.

I had to shoot flames from my eyes to get hormones. Which were artificial, dangerous, and stopped working.

And people wonder why I'm so cynical.

What an amazing article. Shows how little they know about chronic illness even add they create it with terrible health advice.
