Default 11 years since I've done this!

Hi, all!

Just introducing myself as requested . Looking forward to getting to know everyone around here. First day on Atkins (induction flu is already hitting. YAY!) I'm not new to low-carbing, but it has been a LONG time - since before I got married, had an amazing kid, and gained a ton of food babies that I need to get rid of. I actually lost the majority of my weight in my mid-twenties by doing Weight Watchers, and then switched to Atkins for the last 10-15 lbs,and recently, found WW didn't seem to jive with my body anymore.

So my goals are basically to start eating clean (ignoring those Endulge bars that Atkins sent me in like the 3 days since I signed up at their site), drop some (okay, a LOT) of pounds, and see how this WOE affects my fibromyalgia (which I was diagnosed with about 5 years ago - it's such a catch-22 because I'm always tired, so I eat what's quick, which makes me more tired and sick). We've also been dealing with secondary infertility for about the same amount of time, so it would be GREAT if making this lifestyle change could help with that, too (I don't mind replacing the food babies with a real one ).

Bottom line is that I know this is a good way for me to eat (WW gave me the freedom to eat Cocoa Puffs as long as I counted them - maybe when I was 25, that worked, but at almost 40, that's a no.) and after stepping on the scale earlier and seeing the number higher than I'd estimated, I am DONE. I am DONE being sick and tired and I'm ready to START living better.

I'm also wordy. I will apologize in advance for that.

Eliza

11 years? I think I started on here about 2003. But I have been off more than on.
I, too, had a thing with WW going on. I was even losing. But I was never as satisfied as I am on Atkins. But as wiser folx than I have said repeatedly: we each have to find what works for us as individuals. I wish you every success.

Thanks, MisterE! I'm new to these boards, though - just not to Atkins .

And you're absolutely right - I just remember feeling better when I did LC compared to WW - because I was putting better food in my body. I had energy and really felt great, so if I have even half of that this time around, it'll be a win in my book.

WW is actually what threw me off of years of LC, and initiated a weight gain. I tried to do it low carb, but really...the floodgates were opened. The pounds piled on. Never again.

Anyway, *HI* and welcome to the forum!

Welcome, Eliza,
You have found a great forum for information. Still check out the newbie tips for good reminders and new info, are you getting enough salt in induction? Two cups broth is recommended now.
Dr Eades has three great posts on "LC the second time around", a dozen terrific posts over the years on LC:

Also an entire sub-forum on fibro. All the best,
