I don't think I use enough (of the xylitol) for it to give me any gastric "distress," although there have been times I have noticed a modicum of flatulence after using it.

Where do you get your xylitol? Do you use 1/2 xylitol 1/2 splenda?

I have heard that combining sweetners enhances the overall strength.. magic!

I was trying to source erythritol because of my sensitive stomach but am willing to try the xylitol combination first... I could save a lot of money

I get my xylitol from Mrs Flannery's, where she sells it in bulk and it is a little cheaper than elsewhere. But I have also seen it in other health food shops.

Yes, I use ½ xylitol and ½ Splenda, and the sweetening power is then doubled. Plus the slightly bitter aftertaste of Splenda disappears. My very picky DH cannot tell the difference between that combo and sugar, and he HATES anything made with just Splenda.

Rosebud - I just found Xylitol down at my local health food store so I am looking forward to trying it out this weekend. thanks!

They also stock packets of 100% Erythritol for almost the same price as the Xylitol?? However, the reason I didn't buy the Erythritol is because the nutrition label says for every 1 gram of Erythritol there is 1 gram carbohydrate.

Hmmm?..... seems like I would be adding a lot of carbs if I were to use this in my cooking.

What do you think? Where did these carbs come from? There are no calories in Erythritol

(I'm learning... if only slowly! And with your help!)
