Default So Annoying....comments About Atkins

i am so sick and tired of hearing people say that this way of eating is bad for you, i ask if they read the book, and of course they never read the book. they just heard that you could eat all the cheese and steak you want. i try to explain to them there is more to atkins then eating cheese and steak. it is like talking to a brick wall....so annoying. i wish they would keep their comments to themselves.

I had never experienced a rude comment until this weekend. I was ordering an omelet for lunch at the local university and she was as well. She told me that everyone needs carbohydrates. I told he I had been on this plan for almost a year and she NEEDED to see my before pic.

I know what you mean. I am sick of those people who dont know what they are talking about it. My best friend is that way. I told her "so then I should go back to eating bread and sugar and processed crap because its better for me"

Personally, I know I eat more vegetables now that I am on this WOL than before. Ask people what kind of veggies and fruits they eat, then maybe they will start to get it.

The one I hate the most is: "you can't cut whole food groups out of your diet and expect to be healthy" (usually uttered by someone who's shoveling a brownie or something in their mouth)

To which my response is usually along the lines of, "I didn't realize that brownies (chips, cookies, cake, doughnuts, etc...whatever they happen to be eating while uttering their profound words of wisdom) were considered a food group. Guess I must have dozed off during that part of nutrition class in school."

Duc tape...it's not just for low carbers to hold their kidneys in with.

Lisa, think my brother will be offended?

Little Debbie's are okay, not eating the potato at Outback isn't. Go figure.

geesh.. some people. Next time a comment is made ie, no carbs, Atkins dying... and so fourth. Just remind them that the ceo of mc donalds corp died yesterday, of heart failure. Oh ya, he was the one pushing for higher health awarness on the basis of the old food pyarmid. :P

I would bet most people don't eat any fruit in a typical day, yet they will criticize Atkins for limiting fruit.

I couldn't let this one slip by without replying. I too eat more veggies then I ever ate before and I make sure to tell people that. I point out that I eat 2 servings of veggies with each meal, (I'm sure even the healthiest of people you run into don't do that). I probably used to eat many Little Debbie peanut butter bars as I do veggies now. hehe Little Debbies brownies were one of my main staples. I loved Walmart because of all those great deals but now I go there for low carb goodies and diet rite. I actually get sick of the folks that say that their doctors won't let them do Atkins because of all the diuretics, and cholesterol lowering meds they're on. They won't even read the book because of the bad rap it gets with the media talking about it only consisting of meat and fat. All it takes is the local news to say something bad and EVERYONE believes it without even reading the book! It's soooo sad cuz they might actually be able to get off all that medication and loose some weight in the process if they'd just open their minds to facts in the book. Shame, shame on the media!!! Annie

I'm sick of:

people saying

1)"those no carb plans are bad for you"....ATKINS IS NOT NO-CARB. Hello.

2)my mother, every time she eats something, tells me how many points are in such and such. she is on weight watchers.

3) this woman i work with, who says she is doing atkins by eating a half a can of vienna sausages for lunch (skipping breakfast) and the going hogwild at coldstone creamery because "she just can't stick to it".

4) this OTHER woman i work with who mentions every article or new show she has seen that says no-carbing is bad for you. SHE on the other hand claims she is trying to lose ten pounds by only eating meat 2 times a week and just eating fruit the rest of the time. I tried explaining to her that the protein in meat releases those fat burning hormones. she is skinny by the way. if she lost ten pounds we'd be able to see through her.

5) people who see me buying food, and they say "oh I need to get on that" as if it's something you do for a month.
