Default Exercise interruptions make me crazy!

When I'm walking on the treadmill, I get crazy annoyed at interruptions - to the point that I won't even try it if I'm not alone in the house.

I haven't been using it regularly in a long time, but I've lost the 20 pounds and if I want to keep the promise I made to myself, I should start this weekend. But I won't because if DH talks to me while I'm on it, I will get so irritated at him!

I think it's mainly because while I tread, I usually watch a DVD or listen to a book (I find the scary ones the best - get that adrenaline pumping). And in addition to having to stop the media, I have to stop the treadmill because I just can't hear or focus on what's being said unless I do.

I know that being interrupted while doing anything can irritate even the most saintly of people, but I really think my annoyance at workout interruptions are out of proportion.

Anyone else experience this?

God, yes....

This is my H .... irritating doesn't cover it!

I close the door to the bathroom, and put up a notice - "Do not disturb; I'm disturbed enough already!" and he keeps out.

Maybe you need to have a talk with him, and ask you to just give you some 'me' time, and you promise you'll be available as soon as you finish.... Please? Pretty please??

Tara, thanks so much for posting. Lol! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! Yeah, you're right, I should just tell him how I feel. I don't know why I haven't thought of a sign on the door. If I put it right at his eye-level it should work!

LOVE your avatar picture, so adorable

I have 4 children, so I get interrupted OFTEN! I get enraged. DH learned fast. The older ones remember now to NOT interrupt Mommy while she is exercising or else Mean Mommy will come out. Unfortunately, the little kids keep forgetting. I try to breathe and remember they are still little and they'll get it soon. But still UGH!
