Default Switching from fruits to carrots?

Hi, I'm just basically avoiding grains and fats (I know, I know, they are good for me, but no need to post why I need them, etc ). Anyway, I used to eat three pieces of fruit a day, usually apples. I am going to switch to carrots as I've found these don't cause cravings for more sugar. Are carrots the same/worse/better than fruits in terms of carbs and sugars? I'm just trying to avoid sugars and carbs. thanks!!!

There are plenty of vegetables that are far lower in carbs than carrots. You could probably even have fruits like berries, if not tons, for a bit less. In a perfect world though, you'd mix up your food intake; you'd get a better vitamin/trace mineral result then, add some variety to your life, and maybe that way some days you could have a higher-carb veggie or a fruit if the other two were very lowcarb, for example.

It really would be worth your time to either read a book on lowcarb or at least get Netzer's book of Nutrition counts. For that matter this forum under tools has a link to the USDA database and you can search on any food and get a nutrient count.

Best,
PJ
