Plan: CALP

Progress: 20%
Default Starting on the 26th

Hi My name is Carolyn and im starting CALP on Saturday. Ive got about 60 pounds to lose. Ive tried everything including Atkins, weight watchers, nutrisystem, low fat you name it. What I DO KNOW is that I am a carb addict. However Atkins kinda made me feel sick and it was too restrictive and I truthfully don't like eating so much fat, but just enuf to keep me satisfied. I have the CAHHP book and it sounds perfect for me. I can have the fat if I need it, but can eat lower fat and healthy carbs for RM. Ive tried South Beach, but even that created too many carb cravings. It's not low carb enuf I guess. anyway, I hope to learn alot and meet other CALPers!

hi Carolyn-
good for you! I love the CAHHP book. I also think this is the best program for me- others have too many carbs and others too few.
Please post a lot and let us help. Hope tomorrow is terrific-
E

Eno,
Do you still eat this way even though youve been maintainining for awhile?
I agree with the fact that other plans have too many or too few carbs. I think that's why I failed on South Beach. and felt sick on Atkins.

I did some google seached on Carb addicts, which I consider I am, and I found an article saying they should only consume carbs once a day, which is what CALP is!

hi-
yes, I still eat this way! I really believe that the insulin is the key, and this plan is a great way to control my insulin. I think I have metabolic syndrome (the Hellers and lots of other LC writers talk about this) and is can only be managed, IMHO, by LC. I love CALP as I can eat my carbs at dinner and control my insulin. Going from a size 16 to a 6 is just the extra reward.

Eno,
While you were losing the weight, what types of carbs would you stick with at RM? I see you were doing CAHHP, so were you eating the more healthy carbs??
Thanks

hi Carolyn-
yes, when I was losing I ate more complex carbs than sugars. I really missed my breads, cereals and potatoes. I had bread, cereal, yogurt and dried fruit, a RM veggie(like carrots) or sweet potatoes most nights. I had a sweet once or twice a week. If I had sugar more than that I didn't lose and more importantly, didn't feel as good.
I also balanced my RM and cut way back on alcohol. Also I always ate very little AS, but I cut back on that too. Used diet rite as a treat, maybe a few times a week. I haven't even bought it in over a year!
