Default Inaugural conference: The Science of Carbohydrate Restriction and Nutritional Ketosis

Great post on the Virta Health blog from 2 weeks ago but which I hadn't gotten around to checking out before now. There's a pile of new YouTube presentations by Jeff Volek, Stephen Phinney, Dominic D'Agostino, Sarah Hallberg, Nina Teicholz, Gary Taubes, Tim Noakes, Peter Brukner and more:

Quote:
On August 16th and 17th, we had the honor of convening a remarkable group of scientists and journalists at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio to discuss recent progress in the science of low carbohydrate nutrition. This symposium was hosted by the OSU Food Innovation Center and the video recordings were sponsored by Virta Health.

Topics addressed by the 15 speakers ranged from basic molecular functions of ketones as signaling molecules and fuel to practical treatment strategies for cancer, metabolic, heart, and brain disorders. Additional presentations spanned topics from public policy and healthcare guidelines that stand in the way of adopting ketogenic treatments to the practical role of nutritional ketosis in sports across the spectrum from ultra-endurance to professional soccer.

We’ve posted lightly edited versions of these presentations below. Please enjoy!

More information on the conference is here: Emerging Science of Carbohydrate Restriction and Nutritional Ketosis – Scientific Sessions at The Ohio State University

Thank you Grav!
How did I miss this? 22 videos with 7 related to cancer...a treasure trove! Now to find the time to watch them all.

Especially Dr Cunnane’s ... was really positive for the future of preventing and treating early AD or MCI (Moderate Cognitive Impairment) and brain disorders.

I truly enjoyed Gary Taubes luncheon talk...he was relaxed and funny in front of a crowd of LC friends and supporters. Toward the end he also gave a peak at the LC doctor's advice he has been gathering for his new book.

The OSU clinical Keto-Care for Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer is still recruiting.

Watch this talk for encouraging early results and improved quality of life for what is an incurable stage. Both this trial and the one at MSK are randomized, BUT Parker Hyde said at OSU they do consider the patients current dietary pattern, so the patient does have input on which diet, Keto or SAD, they could sustain.

Great talk by Gary Taubes. I'm glad that he highlighted the need for commitment among other things. His next book should be really interesting.
