Default timing of taking cytomel

Problem: feeling hypo, having problems taking cytomel the way it is prescribed.

My prescription is written to take my thyroid medication 4x/day. I've been taking it twice /day and then third dose I take armour alone. Is that why my temp is 96.7 and I have no energy? I've been wary of taking one of the doses in the middle of the night because it seems like I don't sleep well when I take cytomel after 6pm.

I'd like to take time-release cytomel. Does that require taking multiple doses per day too?

Is anyone making the 4x/day routine work?

i'm confused, I've always heard that thyroid medication works better when taken on an empty stomach.

Am I just whiny and I should buckle down and do what my dr advises?

It is weird they're having you take it at night, most people have issues sleeping with T3 raging around. I know that folks like breaking up their T3 doses usually so they don't get all tired too early in the day.

I'm taking my entire dose in the morning because I seem to really do better that way.

I end up having to take it at night because I don't eat anything 2 hrs before or 2 hrs after I take cytomel. So the 4 doses take 16 hours to get through, but if you add in 30 min meals, the timing goes to 17.5 hours, so I would have to wake up and take a dose.

I've been doubling the dose and only taking cytomel twice a day. I'm wondering if thats why it doesn't seem to working well.

Have you tried taking it sublingually? Just stick it between cheek and gum and let it dissolve. I do that with my armour. I think it gets absorbed better that way and you don't have to worry so much about what you eat interfering with absorption.

why 2 hours? most people I've seen allow 1/2 hour before a meal or 1 hour after. Nancy is right though the sublingual works best.

I tried the sublingual, my temp is way up today. 98.6 tonight. My hands aren't cold anymore.

maile 1, thank you for the information. I feel like I've been on my own with the cytomel. I am very happy to know I don't have to time it out with the food as strictly.
