Default Too much t4?

I put this in the wrong place so I'll try again. I think my problem is reverse t3 but since my doctor doesn't "buy" that theory (big surprise) I'm on my own here. My t3 is now up to 12 (from 9 a few months ago) possibly because I've been going the natural route - iodine, L-tyrosine, selenium and zinc). Friday, I tried (once again) to talk her into giving me Cytomel. Instead I got porcine thyroid (and 30 mg at that). I have all the usual symptoms - losing hair, fatigue, muscle aches, overweight, etc. Looking up the pig stuff, I see it is 4 parts t4 to 1 part t3. Is all this t4 just going to continue to mess things up for me? I suppose the t4 will continue making more rt3. Anybody got any ideas about this?

I guess the Mexican source for Cytomel (Cynomel) is no longer up and running?

Actually, what I read is that procine thyroid has a lot more T3 than normal human thyroid.

30mg of even natural thyroid is a tiny amount. I was taking around 125 mcg of synthroid and went on about 3 grains of natural thyroid -- I think it was. That's about... 180mg of natural thyroid.

Yes, the porcine thyroid does contain more t3 than humans but it's the t4 (I think) that's throwing me off. Don't think I need more t4 (to turn into rt3). And thank you for telling me your dose. I thought it was pretty small myself so I've been taking it twice a day. I guess I'll try another doctor because this one is never going to give me plain old t3 (Cytomel).

Yes, fire that doc! My daughter found an excellent endocrinologist out here in Seattle that listens to symptoms FIRST, then examines the numbers. She has been on Cytomel from day one and has been able to avoid many of the frustrating problems that so many people with hashies have. Do some research on line and read reviews of doctors. You can ask on different thyroid forums for references and reviews too. Hang in there!

I am interested in the name of that doctor, since my mother has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and lives in Seattle. She does not have an endocrinologist yet. Thanks.
