Default decrease synthroid/increase weight

I have lost 30 pounds on Atkins but I know for sure next time I have my thyroid checked the dr is going to decrease the dose because the weight loss decreased the need somewhat. THEN - I'll gain 10 pounds in a month no matter how I eat or exercise. Has anyone else had this problem, and what did you do about it? I told the dr that it was more important to keep the weight loss, but he doesn't agree.

I am assuming you will be getting blood work when you go back to see your dr. As long as you are not in hyperthyroid-there is really no reason for him/her to reduce your medication.

I would just do a lot of research on the thyroid and what levels are actually good (including TSH!) and present your doctor with all the facts.

I am also going back to the doctor on Tuesday.
