Default Entitlement to eat......

I was thinking about this today........

For some reason, I started repeating this to myself like a mantra:
"I'm entitled to eat"......"I'm entitled to eat".........then I tried adding, "To eat the right foods"......."To eat the right foods".........

I have a serious issue with low carbing for short stints, then binging/sabotage. Never really getting too far with losing weight.

Maybe I'm struggling with things like my children being entitled to junk food (sometimes) and my thin fit husband who is able to exercise religiously, hardly snacks, but then indulging when he wants.

I guess I feel I should be entitled to that too........

I then tried to rephrase it in my mind, that on low carb, I never need to be hungry, just go for the right things and I started to feel better about things.

Just felt this was a new way of thinking for me today, maybe it will shed light on why I am not succeeding yet......

It is all in the way you look at things. Keep up the positive thoughts and you will start to see changes. You are entitled to a happy life which includes yummy food! Your body in entitled to nurturing care and you can give yourself exactly what you need. Be good to yourself!

That sounds strangely familiar! I would lose a few pounds, get my BG lower, and I'd find myself rationalizing the next off-plan food, amount, or time of eating (all of which I have to pay attention to).

I would especially be jealous of my husband's ability to eat just about anything he wants. Yesterday we ate at our favorite little diner (fave because I can get a tasty low-carb meal there). Husband had a sandwich and soup - the sandwich looked lovely. But for what may be the first time, I didn't feel badly about the difference in our foods. I was able to say later, "That sandwich looked good," with no overtones of "wish I could have one."

Yeah, it is all a mental game, IMHO. Turn around "I can't have..." into "I can have..."

I think too, it is self-education. If you knew what that junk food was doing to your husband and kids in the long-term, maybe you wouldn't think it was such a desirable thing to partake of.
