Default Intro and Question

Hi everyone -- new to the forum, and like all of you, trying to find my way around the low carb world of eating! Need to lose about 50 lbs, post menopausal (kiss of DEATH in trying to lose weight), and so very frustrated with everything I have been trying.

I will get 'in the zone' for a couple weeks, and eat right/exercise, etc … and lose .5 lb., throw up my hands and go SCREW IT …. only to feel like ~#$% from all the crap I decide to eat after the failure and say I GOTTA DO SOMETHING.

I'm in a do loop.

Anyway -- I look fwd to scouring these posts for ideas, motivations, tips and tricks … I will be 60 this December and I simply CANNOT continue to be unhealthy any longer! I got 9 grandkids that wanna PLAY w/ Grandma!

OH so my question -- the 'search' feature on here doesn't seem to work very well. I did something as simple as 'water' and nothing came back. You can't tell me NO ONE is talking about water?!?! LOL Any assistance would be appreciated!

thanks!

Welcome SueBoo

There is a Technical question section at bottom, here is the Sad History of the regular Search Box, but Advanced Search works great (click on Search box, smaller type under it)

Entering from the Main Index page, also allows you to see the Topic Organization.

This whole page in Newbie Advice has a lot for Returning LCers. Especially Dr. Mike Eades Tips for Second Time Around. https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthr...3&page=11&pp=15
It would be helpful to re-read the Atkins book and follow the Induction Rules exactly, and stay on it as long as you need until you no longer have cravings for carby foods. Maybe that will be two months until you are truly fat adapted. I follow a Clinic Diet where this is no "climbing the ladder" stuff until at goal.

Read your answer on the Food list:

aaah ok thank you! I looove nuts … but I shall wait for them! Thx!

If this is WAR...then you would do best not to have any nuts until at goal. It is why the clinic versions of Atkins do not allow any. Nuts are "moreish". 1 ounce becomes 10. They are high in carbs, calories and oxalates. The foods we "love" can be the ones that damage our health. The "almond flour" treats so loved by keto bakers are dense sources of carbs and calories. Nuts don't provide any nutrients that can't be found in meats and veggies.

A suggestion to help you stay the course this time.

I would agree … they can be dangerous unless respected! :-)
