Default sleep habits

I try to follow what seem to me paleo sleep habits. Does anyone else? It seems not among people I notice when I do get up in the middle of the night (water in, water out)--lots of electric lights burning out there!

I go to sleep at dusk. I wake at dawn. This way, I get the most possible natural light coming in my eyes. I feel much better in lots of little subtle ways when I do this. Also, that time from 4:00 or so (the birds' singing wakes me now) to 7 is "my time"--seems I'm the only person in the world awake, and I love that.

But we sure don't live in a culture fashioned for this, do we?

Hi razzle,
I think you are doing it exactly right!! The way that we humans were designed to get our sleep and then get up to go about the day, with the sunlight.

We set the alarm for 5:30 a.m. but often wake up, and get up, at 5. We go to bed about 8:30-9. I usually need less sleep than my DH so sometimes am up at 4 like you. And really enjoy that early morning time.
