Cool During a stall - What you do to make yourself feel better?

I been going through this for the past couple of months.

And this weekend, I did something that I hadn't done in a while. I tried on my "old" clothes. Actually clothes I thought I still fit into. My summer clothes. Which obviously I hadn't done in a while.

And they were all extremely to moderately big. I was honestly shocked.

Things I wore at my wedding time almost 16 years ago. Now are loose/baggy on me.

My husband watched, as he was happy to see a fashion show of all the bigger clothes.

I found a shirt that was a gift to me but could never where it. Low and behold I can now were it. Size XL. Although I am sure it will shrink on me in the dryer. But nonetheless. It does fit with out hugging tight to the body and showing my belly rolls

So I am curious what do others do to keep their spirits up?

Well, I've been stalled for years now, so one does find ways to cope.

Usually I just tell myself how healthy I am compared to what I would be. And think about how fat I would be if I didn't do this.

Like Nancy I would look at where I would be without the LC. You have done so well, and are so close to goal. I imagine it must be hard to see no change. But you just persevere, that stall will break and you will be so happy!

Maybe even tomorrow!

Well, like Nancy, I've been stalled for a long time now. I think she may have the record though! I've been stalled "only" for about 4 years.

Nothing really cheers me up about it, but as Nancy says, I just tell myself that I'm still better off at this weight than weighing close to 400 pounds. I really did hope to get out of plus-sized clothing one day, but I'm still in 2X-3X. But that's better than the 4X-6X I started at.

Thanks Ladies, I guess one of things I am doing. Is really looking at the mirror to see the difference as well...And looking at before and during photos...

I am noticing a curved figure showing up despite the muffin top in the mirror

I haven't been on this new journey long....but I guess I'd have to say that I am now striving to become a better me. With as obese as I am, I thought the weight would just FALL off of me. I went through 13 days of either no weight loss or little gains each day. I was mortified. I kept thinking, "What am I doing wrong? I am eating healthier and working out. I've cut out fast food and soda completely." I just kept telling myself it'll be worth it in the end - to just keep going!

I haven't been back on the wagon that long. When I hit stalls in prior attempts, I focus on all the health benefits I get from eating this way. When I stay away from carbs, my digestive issues go away completely and I have much more energy. I read more every day about how toxic sugar is so I'm hoping that giving it up is reaping me other health benefits as well.

It might be more specific than just carbs, Patti. Wheat and/or grains is causing lots of issues for folks these days.

Well, I've been battling a slow loss for months and, since I quit dairy for four weeks, it's been a slow gain, about 0.4 pound a week since mid October. The odd part is that I spent a week over Christmas eating high carb and went I went back to LC, the water weight came off in four days. I then went right back to trend, i.e. gaining 0.4 pounds per week. Weird.

I counted my weight loss chickens before they hatched and had to go through some period of mourning for the weight loss I thought I would have that I didn't get. Watching the sale movement slow down, stop, go up, go down, stop, go up.... has been dispiriting.

But.... that high carb week gave me an epiphany. I don't want to eat HC. I just don't like it anymore. Since Jan 1, I decided to just eat my normal LC foods and not do anything special. Yes, I'm watching some pounds slowly come back but I'm also recharging my mental batteries. Maybe I'll pick up weight lifting again (ha!) or go low carb-low protein. I don't know but I want some time to mentally rest, stop trying so hard and think things through.

Hey Toni,

It looks like you are making progress... That great!

I have to say I think one of the wisest choices I made was getting a old style doctor scale. The ones with the weights you move?

Sometimes to celebrate or to remind myself. I get on that scale and go down a 20 pd. notch from my tpo weight.

And I hear the thug, thug, thug, thug, thug, thug, ect.. And I say holy cow i lost weight...

I celebrate at much as I can every 20 pound notch I go down.

So, during the recent stall I started going back and doing that to remind myself...

And I did this when I first started out. 1st 20 pounds off, I would start my weekly weigh in. By going to what I was before... Hearing the thug... and then moving it down.

Haha, imflammable... that is great with the epiphany!

I complianed to my co-worker(1st week in january) that I had only lost 5.5 pounds since thanksgiving. And that I recently gained weight(2.5 pounds) in the last 6 weeks.

He said well you are doing better than most. I said how exactly is that?

He said I had my check up and found I gained 10 pounds! Dr. said don't worry about it everyone gains 10-15 pounds during the holidays. It is typical...

Actually that put things in a little better perspective. So I was better off than some...
