Default HIV patients told to cut fat???

I found this handy chart that shows the protein and fat content of different cuts of meat http://www.tufts.edu/med/nutrition-...th_protein.html . I really didn't pay attention to the site that was hosting it...then I saw this....

"HIV Resources - HIV Nutrition and Health

Many fats and saturated fats are contained in Protein foods. It is important to maintain your protein intake while reducing total fat and saturated fat. Try to choose proteins that have lower fat values."

What the Heck?!?!?!

This makes absolutely no sense to me. It's like they are trying to give them rabbit starvation!! ACK!!!

It gets even better on this page...

"A high quality diet is a diet high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes, with lean, low-fat protein sources. These foods are nutrient-dense, and will contribute much more to your health and well-being than empty calories from sugar and fat."

And this totally cracks me up...
"Fat is the body’s major source of energy storage. The recommended intake of total fat is less than 30% (25% preferred) of daily total calorie intake"

Heellooooo!
