Default Ketosis question

I was reading a post someone had submitted about using the ketostix, and how water intake could effect the color change and all, and wondering if they were in ketosis.

Someone else posted asking if they had a metallic taste in their mouth, something else and if their urine had a strong smell to it.

Is the urine smell thing something that is a good sign? I just recently noticed that very thing and was wondering if I was putting some kind of strain on my kidneys or something. I drink lots of water and never have much color on the ketostix but would be encouraged if that was supposed to be a good sign.

If you're drinking lots of water and your ketostix aren't too dark then you're being kind to your kidneys. As to the urine smell - its an indicator but I guess it depends how sensitive your nose is! If it smells strong to you, it may well have ketones in. If your ketostix change at all then you're in ketosis.
The thing to avoid is that your urine looks dark yellow - then you're not drinking enough water.
The metallic taste in your mouth is similar I think - some of us really notice it (me) some don't much (my DH).

Some people never get much of a sign of ketosis and lose fine - if you notice it, its a sign you're burning fat, but not noticing it doesn't mean you're not, if you see what I mean

Hope that helps, rather than confuses further!

Take care, Jay

Well I am on my third day of induction and according to the Ketostix I am seriously in ketosis! It is as dark as it gets. I drink at least 128 oz. of water a day. So I don't think water effects it at all. Unless you m in a negative way like making you appear to be in ketosis and are not.
