Hi everybody, my name is Kathy. I want to do the original Atkins program. Can you tell me which book I am looking for?

Dr Atkins' first Atkins book was "Dr Atkins Diet Revolution" published in 1972 in the USA

And . . . . Welcome to the forum!

I started the diet with the two newest books, but have found via the forum the older books are better - I was totally confused by DANDR references or '72..

Which meant Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) and the date the book version was published. Oh! Head smack.

There are all kinds of other things; WOE (way of eating) and YMMV. That one really threw me (your mileage may vary), meaning everybody is different, and your results may not be the same.

There is a glossary thread someplace, but I can never get the search forum thing to work. It always tells me, too vague, or not found. Frustrating.

But welcome! This is a great place for information. Everyone is very helpful!!

This is the original book, which I used to own.

This one contains basically the same information.

However, there are others here who know exactly what the differences are, and the thread is here.

The first book you cite is the hardback original first edition of Atkins' Diet Revolution, 1972. The other one is the paperback edition of that same book in a newer reprint. Both of these present the ORIGINAL Atkins diet.
