Default Kidneys stones, lemon juice, and candida

Because of this $hi++y diet I got a kidney stone. Fortunately, I passed it today. However, by researching kidney stones I came across the benefits of lemons for both kidney stones and candida cleansing. Anybody here drink lemon juice and, if so, have you noticed any improvement? I used to drink freshly squeezed lemon juice daily a couple of years ago but stopped. However, after reading that it can help you get rid of candida I plan on reintroducing it back into my diet.

What diet were you on?

I've been confused about citrus. I've heard that they contain oxalates, but I think most acidic foods can help you dissolve oxalate deposits and absorb more minerals. That's one of the reasons I don't buy the theories about how you should eat an alkalizing diet. So what's the deal with lemons - keep the juice, avoid the pith? Or is everything okay? My boss pickles lemons with the rind on, and I'm thinking about trying it.

I have a lemon squeezer so I just squeeze a lemon and add it to water.

Gees Tom. That sucks man. I've been praying I don't get one also because of the diet. Seems like when you go on a diet it really cleans you out.

Hi Tom!

I am(was) a chronic kidney stone sufferer...
I've lowered my protein & upped my fats(over 65% of my daily intake) - I've had no more problems!

It might help you too! ~Cheryl

Thanks for the tip. What kind of fats do you consume? Coconut oil, butter, olive oil? Stuff like that?

Hi Tom!

All of those yummy oils moderately, mostly when cooking, and we(as a family) go through 2 1/2#s of butter a week, but I eat mostly meat fats!
I eat chicken, fish & shrimp on occasion, but eat them liberally with butter!
I mostly get well-marbled beef & I eat on average 3# of BACON a week, Broiled pork, hamburger, etc.

I also find that I am less hungry with a higher fat%.

I start getting the kidney 'pangs' when my protein is too high over a 2-3 week period of time.
Now this is for me...it may or may not be the diet/WOE, but when I up the fat & drop my proteins - not only am I less hungry, but the 'pangs' subside.

Hope upping your fat works for you Tom!! ~Cheryl
