Default The Unsettled Science Newsletter

For anyone who may be interested, Nina Teicholz has just launched a newsletter:

Dear Friends,

I am launching a newsletter, called Unsettled Science: on why itís so hard to get good information on nutrition and health, plus other topics in science.

The first issue is about a $380 million, influential study backed by the Gates Foundation, which is informing global health policies yet turns out to be producing highly unreliable numbers on the health risks of foodsóred meat, especially. The study authors acknowledge that some numbers in a recent paper were inaccurate, yet they do not plan to correct or retract the paper.

This story is a perfect example of how (and why) the debate over red meat is largely unhinged from the scientific evidence. Itís also an example of why a newsletter on nutrition is urgently needed. The media in the US isnít covering this, or many other important topics in the field.

Thanks! Iím excited about this new venture and look forward to sharing it with you.

I was just listening to a lengthy podcast yesterday about why billionaire funded research and philanthropy is a problem, and I think this kind of points out one of the flaws.

Not to mention how many billionaires have screamingly obvious personality issues and I can't see all of them in it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Last one I trusted was Andrew Carnegie because of the libraries.

Subscribed! Nina's such a good writer, as well as explaining science.
