you don't need the unsweetened baking chocolate because the cocoa powder + the shortening or oil is a substitute for it.

Did you hear of the Atkins new book? It has a whole section for Latinos! This is what we need too. A kosher low carb recipe book with advice for holidays. I am tired of looking for l/c recipes and finding that the best ingredient to add to meat is butter, and that if you are on the run take pork rinds with you! I mean, they don't have the problem with meal plans - waiting for hours and hours after eating meat!

Where do you get coconut oil, Sonda?

I haven't been able to find it. I could buy palm-oil in Kiryath Shmona for a while, but they seem to have discontinued tselling it now.

Bought it in "Rotem" an Indian nature food store in Big, here in Beer Sheva. 60 shekels for the big jar, they have other sizes and brands too. Indians are big on coconut oil and an Indian nature food store is the best of all - they have vitamins and organic produce too.

I need help! "Pirakti kol ol". I know my problems are mainly two: I don't cook almost anymore, children are home only during some week-ends, and all what I can buy to eat during lunch break is highly carby. I know it's a matter of thinking ahead, but I'm sick of eating eggs for breakfast and shishlik "mama of" with some lettuce.
And also, I wish we could meet on a forum like tapuz or so in Hebrew.

Thanks for the link, Sonda! I'll check it out.

Evelyne, try cheese for breakie (bacon if you don't keep kosher) and prepare tuna or salmon salad for lunch for a while. DON'T give up. The kilo's will fly back on if you do. Believe me, I speak from experience.

Also... cook a little for yourself, broccoli, cauliflour, green beans, Brussels sprouts and a nice juicy steak or (chicken)liver or mixed veggies with ground meat.

You are absolutely worth it.

And I'm sure there are others here who can give you even better advice for stuff to make.

You use it instead of the awful and ubiquitous canola oil, ryurach.

I am all for a forum in Hebrew, count me in. I think that more Israelis might have this life changing option if a group evolved in native tongue. I like the layout, skin and post layout of this site. I don't like the cascaded layout of the Hebrew sites.

Ryurach - I make a simple chocolate (see pg 9). that way I eat all of it, since it is so expensive. And I miss chocolate! How much did it cost and what brand did you get? What color is it?

Evelyne - I too don't like cooking. I use my microwave to make veggies and I put all kinds of meat in the slow cooker on a Shabbis clock. When I get home the meal is ready. All extras are wrapped as individual portions and frozen. When I am out of the house (and have the cash) I buy shawarma (discard the pita) or I take a can of tuna with me. If I am on the go and have no time to eat at all, I'll make a protein shake. It is very filling. L/C is a no discount plan. Either you are doing it or not, you can't have it both ways, sorry! I hope this has helped, maybe if you describe your problem in detail I can reply more appropriately.

Yep, that's how it starts! But, remember, carbs are addictive, especially after keeping Atkins, for a while.

So, STOP that, RIGHT NOW!!!

Check out The Diet solution, it's a kind of Atkins Light. All about eating as much organic food as possible.

I wouldn't go there myself, but go for it.

Good luck.

I have been serious for two weeks. I prepared a head of time meat, grilled chichen, for the whole week and ate it with a salat and in the evening salad with a box of tuna.
The problem is, that when I don't bring to work food, and I have only 20 minutes to decide+buy+eat something in the street, it comes out to be a falafel or a pizza slice. And except a can of tuna (and how many of these can you eat in a week), what could I keep in my locker (no fridge) that will be an emergency meal?
Thanks for any ideas?
