Default HEALClinics in Denver CO and Durham NC

A new venture to HEAL Diabetes now open in Durham (Dr. Eric Westman) and Denver (Dr. Jeffrey Gerber). Assume the plan is to extend offices, but at least these two cities to start. More information on their website:
http://healclinics.com

This is all very new, this posted on Nov 14th:

I'm delighted to announce the possibility for me to see patients at the HEAL Diabetes & Weight Loss Clinic in Durham on Monday mornings. If you are interested in more information, please send an email to HEALClinicDurhamNC~gmail.com - Dr. Westman

Wow, that is really great. I hope I never need a clinic like that but it is nice to know that there is one. Now if they can just grow to cover the country....

The HealClinic is now open and Dr Westman starting to blog.
I could have placed this post on the Thread about How to Cure Diabetes OR Put Diabetes in Remission, but here is his explanation directly: http://healclinics.com/heal-cure-pa...etes-remission/
The website now has more information, inc. a testimonial from Kathy Nichols some of us "know" from here.
On the local support group, someone mentioned she is going there now, three visits for $150. I don't see fee info on the website, not sure that is for all patients or how that works, will try to find out more.

Listened to the excellent People's Pharmacy podcast on the dietary guidelines. It was not a debate, but two separate interviews, both good. At the end of Dr Westman's, he mentioned that he has two ventures, the HealClinic for in person visits and an on-line version, Low Carb Adapt.

News to me, but possibly an alternative if you could not get to a HealClinic or Duke Lifestyle Clinic for an initial visit.

Also noted yesterday that Drs Phinney and Volek have a new venture, http://www.ketothrive.com along with Dr Eenfeldt, Fung's long distance program, etc. The Paleo world has monetized their advice for years, now the LCHF world is joining in.

A good post by Dana Carpendar on the state of current medical diabetes treatment, and why she supports the clinic's low carb lifestyle treatment.

Just learned today that Dana Carpenter and Dr. Westman have published a new cookbook.

The Low-Carb Diabetes Solution Cookbook: Prevent and Heal Type 2 Diabetes with 200 Ultra Low-Carb Recipes

Quote:
The low-carb lifestyle continues to be a popular choice among those trying to lose weight through the ketodiet, resolve insulin resistance, and combat pre-diabetes and Diabetes. Those in the gluten-free and Paleo/Primal diet communities are also searching for recipes with that, help the gut, work with their lifestyle and benefit their health. Foods that are high in fat and low in carbs are, in some cases, just what the doctor ordered.

Bestselling low-carb author and advocate, Dana Carpender, strips away the carbohydrates (grains and starches) and reveals 200 of her best ultra-low carb recipes for those who are looking to take their low-carb lifestyle to the next level. These recipes have been recipes updated to be Paleo/Primal-friendly, featuring no artificial sweeteners, gluten, or other processed ingredients.

The official cookbook of HEAL Diabetes and Medical Weight Loss Centers, founded by Dr. Eric Westman, this book has 200 recipes to jumpstart your nutrition and get you on the path to a healthier, happier you.

Last time I checked with Heal Clinic for a potential patient, Dr. Westman was seeing patients on Monday at the Heal location and is in the Lifestyle Clinic three other days.
Depending on the circumstances, you can have a initial medical health check-up appointment and learn about the diet (one in-person appointment is required by state law) and then continue on various bundled "distance programs" that were priced on how often you would need be in touch with him/clinic for medication adjustments, etc.

I just learned that if you request the HealClinics information package, a 38 page brochure and recipe excerpts are emailed to you immediately and that includes the complete and exact clinic diet program. For a copy of the Duke Clinic program with the quantity limitations on the extra foods that have been used almost 20 years with great success to manage diabetes and obesity...fill in the email request for the Free Heal Clinics Welcome Kit at bottom of this page: http://healclinics.com

Learned HealClinic will no longer be sending the complete plan and food list in the HealCare brochure. Maybe a day or two more, but the Welcome Kit is about to be removed. HealClinic now offers non-medical weight loss support on-line, you may learn more about that at the website. Their business model continues to evolve.
However, there are other readily available resources to find the clinic food list, e.g. the appendix of Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes.
