Default easy yogurt

Pour a mixture of half and half and heavy cream (or just one) into a pan, add a few tbs of vanilla and sweeten to taste. Heat to 100 degrees and pour into a LARGE thermos. Stir in a few tbs of yogurt with active cultures from the grocery store (eg. plain dannone) wrap the thermos and put it in a warm place to sit all day, or overnight.

yum! I made this yesterday. Try to sterilize your utensils with boiling water before using them.

Neat - how was the consistancy? I made it with whole milk and it was a tad runny. I wondered whether or not cream would work...

I LOVE YOUR SIGN! I am going to make one and post copies of it all over the house.

It was very thick, more puddingy than solid yogourty though. One thing I did do was add a small amount of a gum thickner to it, that may have had something to do with the thickness. If I didn't have that, I would have put some plain gelatine in - just because I like very think (eat with a fork) yogurt.

I am going to try making it with the low carb milk next.
