There are different definitions of paleo and primal depending on what resource you read. Some include butter, some don't; some include dairy, some don't; some include beans, some don't; some include bacon, some don't...if someone asked me to give up cheese, I'd have a hearty laugh in their face :P I just basically try to stay low in carbs and high in fat while avoiding artificial sweeteners and frankenfoods. My result is essentially meats, cheeses, eggs, non-starchy veggies, nuts, and some spices and condiments (canola or safflower mayo, oils, heavy whipping cream, coconut milk, almond milk, etc.). And I've been eating more fruit and dark chocolate during pregnancy to help with some cravings for junk (though they're probably helping to CAUSE some of those cravings...).
