Default Landmark diabetes report in Australia

Landmark diabetes report says low-carb is a top option

Thorough summary of this new report in Australia by Adele Hite.

Intro:
Quote:
A recent Western Australia government inquiry may result in a huge public health breakthrough for treatment of type 2 diabetes. The result of the inquiry, a report titled, “The Food Fix: The role of diet in type 2 diabetes prevention and management,” calls for low-carbohydrate diets to be one of three options formally offered to patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

The report, submitted by the Education and Health Standing Committee of Western Australia’s parliament, also says that remission, not just management, should be the goal of type 2 diabetes interventions.

The report and summary are important. It's a good example of using a history of successful clinical practices in resolving and achieving remission of T2D. The building population of physicians who are achieving success with low carb/keto is enabling the general population and the lagging media to start taking this seriously. As this is happening, more will no longer refer to low carb or keto as "fad" diets. It's happening now.

Thanks Janet
I really like that glcaemic index comparison.

Very surprising how low peas are, I've always thought they were as bad as eating corn.

Oh, I can tell I'm going to like this, before I've even read it. Thanks for the heads up, Janet!

In the report, the committee agreed that the Australian Dietary Guidelines “should not be used for people with diabetes,” adding that “they do not apply to people with a medical condition who need special dietary advice.”

So, follow the Guidelines until they make you diabetic and then you can quit following them.
