Post Irish low carbers

Hi all

I've just checked back into the forum after a while away and I'm delighted to see that there are a few more Irish people on board. I started this low carb diet a year and a half ago and I'm still a big fan. I've lost over two stone and have no problems keeping it off.

I joined this forum in April last year and often checked if there was anyone else from Ireland but there didn't seem to be. But it's definately becomming more accepted now. There is a general move towards this way of eating - nutritionists on television programmes and in magazines are starting to advice people to reduce their carbohydrate intake. We're just leading the way.
Many of my friends and relatives have begun to adopt this diet as a way of life too now. I'm looking forward to seeing their results.

Glad you are all on board here, it's nice to know there are others out there. I'll be watching your posts with interest.
Yvonne

Hello All,
Just got back from an awesome musical tour of Ireland.
Our group visited Oughterard, Westport (Loved Matt Molloy's), Sligo ( Got kicked out of "Shoot the Crows" for being American, but had a great time in "McHugh's"
and Galway.WHAT A WONDERFUL CITY !!!! Only thing I have craved since starting LC this week is MacDonagh's Fish and Chips !
Anyone have a good Haddock recipe ?

I am looking forward to reading this group from my friends in Ireland.
Mark

I really liked Galway when I visted last year! Wish it weren't such a long ride from north Dublin, because I would go every weekend! So why did they kick you out for being an american?

Hello,
I think it was because they were smoking after the smoking ban took effect.
4 of us walked in after we had dinner at Fiddler's Creek, and asked for a round of Smithwicks. The barkeep said he did not serve Americans, matter the fact he has been known to kick them out on their asses !!! I waved my credit card and said I would take my drinking dollars elsewhere !!
Talked to the bouncers at "McHugh's", and they said they would walk over and tell them they were dead wrong for turning us away.
BTW, it was me, my wife and another middle aged couple. Not a bunch of rowdy of college kids !
I had such a great time at other pubs in Ireland, that It really did not bother me.
I loved:
Matt Malloy's (Westport)
Campbells (Near Crough Patrick)
JW's Pub (Westport)
Powers (Oughterard)
Gaynors (Leenane)
Gaughn's (Balina)
McHugh's (Sligo)
Quay's and Kings Head (Galway)
Cheers !
Mark
