Default build muscle/ lose fat ratio???

I posted similarly in the exercise forum...I need answers!
I do heavy powerlifting and cardio. I see differences in my bodily structure (clothes aren't looser, but look better on, which is strange also...) I'm pretty sure i'm building muscle while losing fat (no, i stupidly have never measured; that and weighing scare the he** out of me). I am on OWL, doing pretty good, i think...
But last time i weighed, over a month ago, it was 160, and when i weighed this morning it was 160! Seeing that number makes me feel all my effort is in vain, and that I am just imagining that I look better.
Someone please tell me that we can lose fat while gaining muscle and not see a difference on the scale!!!
I am so discouraged, i feel like just sitting around and not exercising, ahhh!

Yep, you can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. In my case, the numbers tend to stay dead even for *weeks*, 1-2 lbs of each going on/off per week. The pegged scale is soooo frustrating, even when intellectually you know what's going on. BUT - take measurements, calc your bodyfat and you'll still be able to log lbs lost even when the scale doesn't move.

Look for my "shocking theft" post over in General Low carb. The scale difference is only 15 lbs, and I lost 7 week 1, and 5 week 7. The other 3 lbs were lost slooooowly over the other 10 weeks - at least according to the scale. According to my body fat calcs, I was losing a fairly steady 2 lbs of fat per week and gaining almost one of muscle.

Cheers,

Friday

Also remember, muscle is much more dense than fat. Volume-wise, a baseball worth of muscle could be a football's worth of fat.

Your weight may stay around the same figure, but the results should be evident in the mirror.

I'd suggest buying a good body fat scale if you're looking for that kind of gratification.

My 4th week on the diet, I only lost 1lb, but my body fat went down 2%.
