I have a dog and cats myself! But it was not meats that were freezer-burned, more like LC sweet treats and leftover veggies (none of the animals like veggies)

lol, dogs and cats are like kids, some like veg, others not so much. All my dogs get veg and fruit. Some like raw, others need it cooked. As pickly as kids, lol.

pulled out a ham for twice baked potatoes etc.

Used the pork chops: onion and peppers from freezer, can of tomato sauce, dried onion, salt and pepper.

Make 16 meatballs: combined jarred pesto with burger. needed parmesan.

Haha, whenever I get sick one of my friends always says to me "Chicken soup, chicken soup! It's the Jewish penicillin!" It's a shame I hate chicken soup so much.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm feeling somewhat better today, no longer quite so drippy, so perhaps can find the gumption to get a soup together. Freezer & pantry to the rescue!

I made some good strong chicken soup this weekend with onions, celery, poultry seasoning, bay leaves,s&p and it was like liquid gold. I drank a lot of it in a cup and savored every drop.
It's a magic cure all!

I am feeling quite a bit better - only 48 hours; I like to think it is my healthy way of eating. I made my chicken soup today - pantry & freezer - chicken broth, homemade and home canned, coconut milk from the pantry, Thai curry paste, diverse spices from the spice cupboard, chicken & shrimp from the freezer, dried mushrooms from the pantry, fresh ginger, lime juice & zest from the basket on the counter. About half an hour, and I still have a bit for tomorrow. Had to make a few changes, not many. Used a cilantro "pesto" that I made a week or so ago instead of both fresh cilantro garnish & chopped fresh green pepper. And used more dried spices instead of fresh. But it was quite nice ... and I think the hot peppers were helpful.

Glad you feel better, Verbena. Thai coconut curry is my favorite soup if I need to clear my sinuses. I did a huge batch of chicken broth on the weekend; that'll be going into the freezer tonight. I'm going to puree some of the chickeny broth scraps into kitty food, too.

My container collection is overflowing the shelf; that's how I know it's okay to make things for the freezer again.

Does anybody know if you can freeze cheese and have it thaw in an edible condition?

I freeze soft cheeses like brie , it thaws creamy. When a cheddar is removed from freezer, it crumbles.

Tastes the same.

Thai curry soup......In my kitchen its a great use for green beans and winter squash. My youngest loves pumpkin pie but hates "squash", however, he will eat squash in the thai curry.

Make the baked squash casserole I posted a while back, it ends up tasting like a baked mac n cheese.

I do freeze cream. Never tried sour cream. It should freeze fine though. Possibility it will separate a bit upon thawing.

Now I must go freeze a portion to see what happens!!!
