Lightbulb "I don't want" instead of "I can't have"

An attitude or rephrasing of words that I have started doing is instead of saying "I can't have _____", is to say "I don't want _____". Think of filling in the blanks with words such as bread, potato, french fries, pasta, etc. It helps me out to think that way. It also will help to say that to people when they ask why you aren't eating bread, potato, french fries, pasta, etc. Doesn't it sound and feel better to word it as "I don't want mashed potatoes" instead of "I can't have mashed potatoes". This is just a little something I've been doing lately which I thought you all may enjoy.

Default Love it

I've been trying to do the same thing. I mean, I CAN have whatever I want. I just happen to want to stay away from those things that are going to make me carb happy, then carb sleepy, then carb fatty. There's nothing wrong with making that choice.

Great attitude, Red. This will really help when transitioning to maintenance when you are only limited to your own choices. It's easy to follow a strict plan, much harder to adjust it to fit your own body and tastes.

Let's all psych ourselves into being healthy!

Happy low-carbing, all.

I am very careful to refer to my eating lifestyle as a way of eating. I never refer to it as a diet even to my friends!
