Doc Atkins died today....last week he slipped on some ice and banged his

head...he had to have an operation because of this, and I guess things didn't

work out.....He was 72, I believe.....So in honor of the guy that made all this

low carbing a well known thing....have a big steak, or something special

Default Terribly sad...

How truly sad for his family, and all of us, his admirers. I can think of no greater way to honor him than to do exactly what he taught us.

Thank you, Dr. Atkins, for standing up for what you believed in and helping all of us to live healthier, happier, longer lives!

Oh, no.
I can't believe it. I've only been low-carbing for two months now, but I'm convinced that man saved my life. I now KNOW I was killing myself on the low fat/high carb WOL. He's recently become my hero and now he's gone...

Unhappy I'm with Famgirl!

Robert Atkins saved my life.

I only hope he knew how many people's lives he saved and touched.

If only I can touch 1/100th of the lives he has, I will die happy.

I am deeply saddened, stunned and pained.

(edited because I cannot spell through my tears)

I want to take this opportunity to record my sadness and regret that Dr Atkins has passed away.

In all the debate over cholesterol and whether you might die of a heart attack I was replied that everyone has to die of something and that the Atkins diet doesn't offer immortality.

In the end Dr Atkins has died from a freak, unpredictable and tragic accident.

All I want now is to give thanks for his life of service to humanity, for his dogged determination and his persistence.

I am particularly thankful for his books which have let me share in his thinking but sad that I won't get the chance to read any more of them that he may have planned to write.

Low carb dieting will survive - of this I have no doubt but its still a time to mark our gladness at what he has done and sadness at his passing

RIP

jarmin

Yes, Dr Atkins will live on through each and every one of us. He has touched many lives - saved many lives. I am one, just as you all are. In this time of need, we should all stick together - and remember in our grief - Dr Atkins would not want us to comfort ourselves with carb-loaded food. The best way to honor him is to live his vision.
