I happened to do that today. Last night I had slices 5 and 6 of the leftover pizza with extra hamburger. I blew 4.1 mmol before working out this morning.

Tonight I'll have slices 7 and 8, with extra hamburger. Tomorrow I'll blow before and after working out, and report the results. My Saturday and Sunday workouts take about an hour each.

Saturday will be a normal low carb day, no pizza. Sunday I'll also blow before and after working out and report the results.

The fact that the pizza is actually lasting you this long might be a good sign, aside from the whole ketone issue. I've never had leftover pizza last me past the next morning.

I hears ya

That summer ice cream was the first out-of-keto thing I ate after months of high gear low carb. I was on alert for cravings. Didn't have any. Still, was months before I had any other deliberately high carb stuff.

That's how dangerous I regard this particular "indulgence." I just remember that, from some people's point of view, I have treats every day.

Bacon is the new candy.

IDK, If I am an alcoholic, do I really want to flirt with trying a drink here and there an not having it lapse back into full blown alcoholism? That would be me with carbs...

Not that I ever gorged on carbs but just putting them back into rotation would make it normal again.

I use to wonder why I was gaining weight but I really didn't eat that much. Now I know, it's the carbs. And since our bodies really doesn't need them like it needs protein, I just focus on protain now. A carb is a cheat and I have to keep it like that in my brain.

Firmly in Ketosis and weight slips back down. I see that the 213 was artificial low after day of water fast looking back. I suspect I'll land around 216 and be stable there for a while. I'm still kind of in weight loss mode - if it happens - around 210 at ice out on our lakes would be a good foiling weight.

In the meantime dietary mild ketosis for me I'm fortunate I'm not like an alcohol addict with carbs. How do I know this? I was severely addicted to alcohol and the mood altering effects it produced. For me comparing carb addiction to alcohol addiction is like comparing the moon to mars - they are in the same solar system but, to a significant degree, different. Each with its own set of unique horrors no doubt.

PS, I think our bodies DO need "carbs". So much so that they make them internally for particular metabolic functions as I understand it. But that doesn't mean you have to eat any The body is a sublime survival machine for it's brief incarnation and duration on this planet we call Earth.

I think I'm actually more addicted to not eating carbs than eating them at this point. Times when I've tried carb ups etc., I couldn't wait to stop. Haven't risked pizza though--always things like navy beans, rice etc. Plain foods, no added fat. I stopped experimenting with that when lentils seemed to make the world a bleak place--schizo-paranoia, people are coming to kill me type feelings, but I don't know if it was the lentils themselves, or if I was just enough days into eating high carb that by the time I got to the lentils, they pushed me over the edge. I'm addicted to not feeling like that.

Had slices 7 & 8 of the pizza last night, along with about 7 oz of hamburger. Woke up this morning and blew a 6.1 on the meter.

Lifted about 22,000 lbs with free weights for about 75 minutes. It was 1.1 about halfway through the workout, and 0.5 when I was done. This was with nothing to eat since dinner last night.

Why would my ketone levels go down after exercising on an empty stomach?

One more thing Paul that I notice. If I let my meter heat up (like forget that I plugged it in - today) for a long time the result is almost always lower than I'd expect. Too much variability with the breath stuff I think to be very meaningful - at least for me. I'm going to invest in a blood meter and redo some over-carbing testing at some point I think. Maybe even some experiments with eating ONLY sugar and not mixing with fat. That will be gross but, hey, "for science" right?

Teaser makes an excellent point about accuracy comparisons of strips, breath meters, and blood meters. This is why I use the blood meter. Once you establish a baseline by understanding how you react to keto foods, you don't need to use it so often. The meter I use now is the Keto Mojo. Strips are less expensive.

Also, my infrequent consumption of the carb foods I used to crave like pizza or fried clams (yes, I'm a transplanted coastal New Englander) are never as good as my memories. That's why it's so easy to do my infrequent one and dones when I go off the grid. Usually, it's "what was I thinking?!?" Then I'm right back to today's normal.

Had normal LC meals yesterday. No more of the P word.

Woke up and blew a 9.0 on my breath keto meter. Had a bullet coffee and started my workout. Did about 5000 lbs of squats and blew a 6.9. Did about 5000 lbs of deadlifts and blew a 5.0. 15 minutes later I blew a 3.3.

So my breath ketones decrease as I'm working out, and continue to decrease after the exercising is done.

Good luck, Thud. There may be others since I bought it, but the strips are the real cost here, so use that in your comparison. Some strips for ketones have been unbelievably high in cost. Meters should be a reasonable one-time cost.

Low carb all day yesterday. Woke up 2 pounds lighter when I weighed myself this morning. No surprise there.

My hypothesis is if I have a cheat meal for dinner, I'll still be in keto the next morning but will be retaining about 2 pounds of water from the carbs.
