Default Burn Fat Not Sugar - Dr. Ted Naiman’s Plan

Anyone follow Dr. Ted Naiman/Burn Fat Not Sugar?

I seem to get stuck around the 250s. I am going to try incorporating his ideas.

Here is a great post he just made. I’m taking this seriously.

I can’t seem to upload the picture.

Anyway, the post shows that

—fat exits the body via the mitochondria
—training doubles the mitochondria

Here's a detailed explanation with Mike Mutzel of High Intensity Health, it's about an hour long interview with Naiman:

I’m pretty lucky-I happen to live about three miles from his practice. He has been my doc since around 2003 and put me on low carb back then.

I’ve been fascinated with fasting and how it can drastically change your health, body composition, and weight loss by making even small changes.

I love his guide to Fasting, think I downloaded it from his website before even finding out about Dr. Fung in Spring of 2014.

Since you know him, pass along my sincere thanks for that and heartfelt request that he post more on his website. Call me old-fashioned but Twitter is not the place to share Medical Information. Unfortunately, there are a few doctors I follow who do focus their efforts on Twitter, so I have to remember to check their activity every few weeks or so. Twitter is such a cesspool dipping into it daily is not on for me...eewww

Janet - thank you for commenting! I will pass on your comment! Dr. Naiman is truly awesome!

I only recently started looking at Twitter again after registering about 10 years ago and bailing on it. There are several low carb docs posting there that I like! I don't have any friends on twitter that I follow, but I have learned a lot just watching their posts, and you don't see other people commenting on their posts unless you try (you have to dig into it), so it isn't as annoying as facebook.

Key Tones, I'm jealous. I have a huge crush on Dr Naiman, probably because he looks like a ripped version of my husband. In all seriousness, though, I really appreciate what he does for the LC community. I love his graphics, his sense of humour, and how he looks at peoples' efforts realistically: example, he'd prefer that you skip the cream in your coffee, but if that's the deal-breaker for you to not bother trying it, then go ahead and have a dribble of cream. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good, as the saying goes.

I also think he's a great role model for being fit without spending hours at a gym: just eat well, do some body weight exercises or what not, and voila, you can look like me. I haaaaate exercise for the sake of exercise and if I'm going to do it, it better not take up much of my time.

Please likewise pass on my fan-girl heart-eyes-emoji thanks.

Key Tones, I read Naiman's guide a while back. Thanks for the refresher. He keeps things simple and direct with an excellent structure for a healthy lifestyle.

Will do!

You know, it is hard to tell what he is really like in real life from his videos and social media. He really such a nice, caring doctor. He looks a bit horrified if you bring up something about how amazing it is that he can do a slow handstand from a tripod. All conversation is to be about you and your health.

Seriously, there is no trace of ego at all! He is the best doctor I have ever had.

Here is a recent talk where he goes over nutrient/protein density in foods and how this directly affects appetite. A bit of a science lesson at first - hang in there, it gets very good:

Very interesting perspective. Just what I was looking for to help my teens stay trim. And now I can stop feeling guilty for eating animal protein greater than a " 4 oz serving".

Excellent YouTube video. Even the science-y part. Thank you.

I learn so much from this forum! 🤔
