Red face Don't eat red meat

Hi All! I'm on Atkins Day 6 of Induction. I don't eat any red meat; haven't eaten it for over 12 years. I'm finding my diet so limited!! What else can I eat for breakfast besides eggs and Atkins bars?

Smile hi tbitler, welcome aboard

This question was asked in another post earlier today...

First, if you are truly following Dr. Atkins Induciton to the letter, there's no mention anywhere of the lowcarb bars. Those are notorious stallers, since the sweeteners used (glycerine, maltitol, sorbitol etc) are utilized as carbs by some people. It's best you avoid them completely during Induction, then use them only occasionally as a meal replacement or snack later on.

Try eating real food ... meat, eggs, chicken, fish, tofu, cheese, vegetables ... there's no rule that says breakfast has to be bacon eggs and hashbrowns.

Click here for the link to some earlier messages, with great ideas for quick breakfasts.

Keep us posted with your progress!

Once you're off induction, you can also eat meat substitutes: you know, soy-based substitutes for hamburgers, sausages, bacon, and so on. These have some carbs, so don't forget to count them.

Check out the recipe section on the red bar above for lots more ideas.

Default to tbitler from another newcomer

Hi there,

I have found this forum to be very informative, so check back often.

I am fairly new at this too. I too tryed the "atkins breakfast bars" and found that they do cause you to stall (personally). I am not much of a breakfast person myself but have found that a protein shake, mixed with a couple eggs, cream, and a dash of no carb sweetener does the trick for me in the morning.

If you havn't already, check out the information thats on my threads. "another newbee with some questions". I've been asking the basic start-up plan questions too.

Good luck on your quest for a better life too!
Cheers, John
