Cool So much weight I can't physically see the shrinkage

I know this sounds a little stupid. But being 177 pounds over weight at the outset and now being 110 pounds overweight with loosing 67 pounds so far.

I can't see the loss in the mirror. I have bought new clothes. All my 352 pound clothes look like tents on me.

But when I look in the mirror I still can't see the physical change.

I know I am loosing every week the scale proves that. I know my body is becoming smaller, new clothes prove that.

But I see myself as the same in the mirror. It is such an odd feeling.

I think it's because we see the gradual changes every day when we look in the mirror. When I lost the first time, I wouldn't recognize myself in photos. Even while gaining, I didn't see the physical changes in the mirror to be as bad as photos showed it to be.
If you have a current picture to compare to a before picture, you'll see the difference more easily.
Congrats on losing 67 pounds!

Thanks Livinright!

You are right, I went and took a photo of myself just now. I upload 3 photos. One at 352, one at 305, and one at 285. And I do see the difference.

Maybe I should just take a photo of myself every 20 pounds, so I can see the difference and my brain recognizes.

I know what you are saying I never saw myself in the mirror as fat as the pictures showed.

Very weird.

But thanks so much that made my night

First of all, Good job on your 67 lbs gone!

As you lose more, it'll start to show for you when you look in the mirror, probably at about 240-250.
I agree that you should start taking a pic now at every 20 lbs lost. It'll help your mind to see the gradual changes if you capture it in a pic. When you get down to near 200, then start taking pics at every 10 lbs lost. It really speeds up the changes when you get down further.

But, most of all, do not get discouraged and quit! You are doing extremely well! Keep up all your hard work and you will see changes!!

How about keeping track of other milestones? For me, for example:

- I'm not pressed up against the sides of the bath tub with separate pools of water in front of me and behind me; instead, the water surrounds me on all sides
- I have no knee pain until I overdo it by walking the dog for too long
- I have no more hip pain
- I rarely have ankle pain anymore
- I fit in the dining room chairs that have arms instead of just the side chairs
- I can reach my shoes without losing my breath
- I walk up the stairs without panting
- I can get up from sitting on the floor easily
- I stand up from the couch without using my hands to brace or push up
- my allergies are gone and I breathe through my nose without any problem
- my acid reflux is gone
- I don't get migraines anymore

... and so on. I could go on and on but you get the idea.

Hey Allison,.

Those are all great realizations and suggestions. I been doing that.

But you know I like to look in the mirrorer and see I am getting thinner or am thin once done.

I just find it really odd I can't see it...

But the photo taking does completely work and you can see the difference there.
