Default Non-mainstream general health doctors

Hi all,

Can anyone add to my list of non-mainstream doctors that critically assess the evidence and have useful blogs? There are plenty of low-carb doctors that get mentioned on this site but I'm more interested in those that consider other aspects of health.
  • Dr. Michael Eades
  • Dr. Malcolm Kendrick
  • Dr. Sebastian Rushworth
  • Dr. Georgia Ede

For a more extreme view, I see what Mercola has to say but don't think he fits in the list above.

I would add Dr Ted Naiman. He is more moderate carb, and leading the higher protein percentage approach, lots on exercise, the benefits of an eating window of about 16 hours, not long fasts. He is most active on podcasts/videocasts/and Twitter (ugh)/Facebook.

For critically assessing the Data, I would add Marty Kendall, but he is not a doctor, one of the citizen-scientists engineers analyzing Optimal Nutrition. https://optimisingnutrition.com/blog/

The largest website that reviews many aspect of diet-related health is DietDoctor, now with Dr Bret Scher reviewing the evidence-based health guides and producing balanced podcasts.
https://www.dietdoctor.com/health long list of health conditions with some evidence of benefit with a reduced carb diet.

Then there are specialty doctors, Dr Ede covers mental health, Dr Justin Sonnenberg on the microbiome, Dr Andrew Huberman on Neurobiology https://hubermanlab.com/about/

Good list to start. I would add Dr. David Unwin from the UK. He's a practicing GP, so he may not have a direct blog, but he frequently contributes to Diet Doctor and other health sites:

Like other GPs, Dr. Unwin treats his patients, so he takes a total health approach. His demonstration to the UK medical authorities over the past several years that lifestyle changes result in massive financial savings in avoiding medical treatments, reductions in prescriptions, and his healthy living recommendations have been extremely well received. Good guy as well. The whole package.

Mercola mixes just enough truth into his marketing plans to make it look like he's enlightened. I've come to regard him, at best, as a copycat who is in it for the money. He's got multiple sites from different angles.

The term "functional medicine" is a good guideline, though like everything else, someone's out there trying to scam people with buzz words. My newest physician is an actual doctor who describes himself that way, and it's such a relief to find someone who looks at my cray-cray summary of all the food strategies, supplements, and care practices I need to help my conditions.

I'd add Dr. Teresa Wahls, who put her MS into remission, went from a wheelchair to biking events, and wrote a book. I followed her protocol, found my sweet spot, and I'm enjoying better control of my own autoimmune disorder.
