Some states, probably AZ or CA , have implimented programs to remove lawns and replace with no water or low water features. Took a state program to get the lawns replaced. Good sucess rate too.

One local town nearby has put in place measures to support and keep farmland. The new developments use woodland instead, from what I see. Even that is a problem, the trees absorb more carbon than the grasses. Some 50 acres cleared for some 50 HUGE houses....makes me cry.

I looked for suppliers of grassfed beef that ship. One had $7 a pound beef. Rather a good price. Would like to find more local source to reduce carbon footprint due to shipping.

Ms A, as you know, I'm native to Massachusetts (Hingham, Cohasset), and there's a farm in Hingham that raises grass-fed beef and other "clean" meats and eggs called Weir River Farm:

Also, there are many others in the general vicinity:

You can insert your zip code to find those closer to you. Good luck.

It wasn't easy to find here until recently. Aldi and Publix supermarkets have it and I saw an ad for it at Walmart in the papers.

Burgers, roasts and steaks can be bought for not that much more than corn fed. When you consider they grass-fed is both healthier and better for the planet, it's a good deal. If need be, I'll sacrifice something else to eat healthier food.

And the CLA in grass-fed beef that is destroyed in corn-finished is supposed to help you lose weight.

Bob

It worked for me. My very first health intervention this century was CLA supplementation. Lost a few pounds. Got interested...

Even though we are in a tough farming area, there are glacial plains surrounding the mountains where we have organic farms and grass-fed beef. In fact, grazing is going to work better in this rocky land with topsoil flaked off the granite.
